NGC 4565 is the brightest galaxy in the coma cluster and approximately 55 million light years from here. Our view from earth is edge on and we cannot see its actual spiral structure. Observations at other wavelength reveal an active black hole in its core.

M 94 is a very special galaxy only 16 million years away in constellation Canes Venatici. It has an outer and an inner ring. The inner ring is a region of very active star formation, probably triggered by infalling gas from the outer parts of the galaxy.

Gammy Cygni (Sadr) is the bright blue star in the center of this image. It is 1800 light years away and the nebulosity in this image (IC 1318) is far behind (4900 light years).
