Globular cluster in constellation Pegasus.
It is the second brightest globular cluster in the northern hemisphere and is about 33600 light years away.
In 2002 a black hole with a mass of about 4000 times the mass of our sun has been found in the center of the cluster.
1927 a planetary nebula was discovered on photographic plates of the 100“ telescope on Mt. Wilson. It is named Pease 1 after its discoverer F.G.Pease.
The cluster is also known for its large number of variable stars.
