PK 164+31.1 (Jones-Emberson 1, Headphone Nebula)

A planetary nebula about 1600 light years distant in constellation Lynx.
Its surface brightness is pretty low, so it requires long exposure times.
For me currently very hard … clouds for months with only very short and rare moments of clear sky. I took the chance to get almost 6 hours on this object, which is normally by far too short.
At least the central white dwarf star (which is pretty blue actually) is visible in the center of the nebula.
A note on the numbering of these planetary nebula: Luboš Perek and Luboš Kohoutek published a catalogue of planetary nebula in 1967 – hence all object in this catalogue are numbered PK … The numbers are the galactic coordinates (coordinates based on the galactic plane and the galactic center) of the object.
A few very distant galaxies are visible in the background as well.
