UGC 9749 (Ursa Minor Dwarf)

What looks like an ordinary star field is actually a galaxy, the so called Ursa Minor Dwarf in constellation … well, Ursa Minor.
Barely visible in the center of the image, it has in the sky an apparent size of the full moon.
It is a tiny galaxy with a diameter of only 2000 light years and only 200000 light years away and mainly consists of very old stars which formed about 11 billion years ago. Almost no new star formation can be detected.
It belongs to the zoo of minor galaxies in our local group of galaxies.
