Sh2-112

This emission nebula in constellation Cygnus is about 5000 light years away.

It is powered by an O-type star in its center. O-Type stars are young massive stars which emit intense UV radiation which excites the surrounding gas and makes it glow in the spectral colors of hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur, which is combined here to a false color image. The stars are from images acquired with red, green and blue filters and are therefore presented in their approximate natural colors.
On the left parts of Sh2-115 with an embedded star cluster are visible, another interesting object … for next summer season, maybe.
