Supernovae Night (2022hrs, 2022ewj)

2022hrs, 2022ewj
2022hrs, 2022ewj

This night I am imaging two supernovae simultaneously.

2022hrs is a Type Ia supernova in NGC 4647, right next to M 60 in constellation Virgo, discovered on 16th of April this year. Distance is 63 million light years from earth. It is pretty bright currently. The large image bottom right is only a single 180sec exposure … more exposures currently being acquired.
The small image top left shows 2022ewj in NGC 3367 in constellation Leo, a type II supernova, discovered on 19th of March this year. It exploded 120 million years ago and became visible on earth right now. The inset is just a single 60sec exposure.
