vdB 27 (LBN 785), LBN 782

This is part of the large dusty molecular cloud in constellation Taurus. vdB 27 (or LBN 785) is the small reflection nebula on the bottom left, illuminated by the variable star RY Tauri. LBN 782 is the bright nebula on the top left.
The dark clouds (Barnard 7, 10, 214, 213, 211 and LDN 1495) consist of dust and molecular gases which are cold enough to collapse eventually to new stars and planetary systems.
The entire cloud complex is about 450 light years away and contains in deed many proto-stars, Herbig-Haro objects and young stars, which have not yet reached their final equilibrium state and vary substantially in brightness. This class of variable stars is named after its prototype star T Tauri.
One of my favorite regions in the sky … so much to see.
Due to its proximity to the ecliptic plane numerous asteroids and minor planets moved visibly against the background in this field of view during acquisition of the frames.
The pixel rejection algorithm removed them from this picture, however I counted more than ten in the map of rejected pixels.
