A planetary nebula about 5700 light years distant in constellation Lacerta.

The names Abell 80 is a bit confusing, because it is also used for a galaxy cluster. In fact there exists an Abell Catalogue of Planetary Nebula and an Abell Catalogue of Rich Clusters of Galaxies …
It is a very faint object and needs very long exposure times. Unfortunately I am currently very limited in observation time mainly caused by bad weather conditions over the past weeks. So I took all I had, which is not brilliant, because many exposures suffer from high clouds which smear out any details.
At least the central white dwarf star is clearly visible in the center of the nebula. It is one of the very faint stars in the core but it can easily be identified by its blue color. White dwarfs when surrounded by a planetary nebula (meaning they are still pretty „young“) have usually very high surface temperatures and thus appear pretty „blue“.
The data without filter habe been used to present the stars in their natural colors while the nebula itself shown using only narrowband data from a dualband filter (Halpha and OIII).
