LDN 1165

A very dense dark molecular cloud in constellation Cepheus.
A region with young stars, protostars, Herbig-Haro objects and variable stars of type T-Tauri.
If you look on the top right edge of the dark structure in the center you might spot a reddish nebulosity with a sort of rays pointing to the top right. This is apparently light from young stars, which just breaks through the dark dust clouds which obscure the actual stars. There is an amazing HST image from this region showing so many details.
A red spot in the lower left part of the dark cloud ist HH 354, a Herbig-Haro object.
Herbig-Haro objects are small and short lived gas nebula which glow because a protostar creates strong supersonic jets of material which collide with the sourounding gas.
I was surprised that I could get these details although the moon appeared relatively quickly and I did not use any filter apart from the UV/IR Cut filter. Fortunately the moon remains pretty low at this time of the year.
