M 57 (Ring Nebula), IC 1296

A planetary nebula in Lyra, 2300 light years from earth, the remnant of a dying star.
Stars with a mass of our sun will not explode as a supernova at the end of their lives but push its outer layers into space while the core collapses to so called white dwarf star.
Same data as previously … a bit more processed and cropped.
Have a look at the fine details within the ring.
