NGC 2174 (Monkey Head Nebula)
NCG 2174 is an emission nebula in constellation Orion. It is associated to open star cluster NGC 2175 which delivers the energy which powers the radiation of the gas.
This is a final processing result pushing the blue inner part. Normally is it shown in red, result of prominent Halpha radiation from hydrogen.

This was one of these days: lost acquisition computer just when everything was ready … and had to find another computer quickly … bad luck.

Stacking Software: DSS
Imaging: PixInsight (for the final version)
I also created a reddish processing result with PixInsight (not splitting channels). The contrast is somewhat higher in this version.
Prior to that a had a try with Siril which also gave some nice results.
And even before … I just used Gimp.
